Moody Air Force Base will likely be the new home for a memorial to a fallen Valdosta soldier.
The Valdosta City Council voted Thursday to move an F-86 fighter jet from South Georgia Medical Center to Moody's Heritage Park, where it will join several other display aircraft.
But this plane would be the first real piece of Valdosta in the park. It still needs Air Force approval to move. The plane honors a Valdosta soldier killed in the 1980s Iranian Hostage Crisis.
