Tallahassee, FL -- May 21, 2012 --

FAMU says they get what are called "pass through" funds.

The funds were budgeted for the school's "Targeted Student Assistance Program" But, the money goes to nonprofit organizations.

FAMU spokesperson Sharon Saunders says, "The Targeted Student Assistance grant funds included in the FAMU 2010-11 and 2011-12 budgets are pass-through funds in which the University serves solely as the fiscal agent."

Four programs were listed under the Targeted Student Assistance Program in the fiscal year 2010-2011.
