House and senate panels of Florida's legislature have okay-ed a bill to allow state citizens to speak at governmental meetings.

Senator Joe Negron out of Palm City, FL filed the bill.

He said it officially gives Floridians the right to speak up at certain public meetings.

It was a unanimous vote in favor of the bill. That's for both the house and senate committees at their meetings Wednesday.

"I think it's very important in this country that we have a right to vote, a right to a trial by jury and a right to speak at a public meeting where decisions are being made that affect our lives," Negron said.

Negron went on further to say most local governments give citizens the right to speak, but mentioned how tax authorities in certain areas weren't giving people the chance to voice their concerns on how the money was being used.
