First Ever Woman Named Investigative Bureau Commander for Valdosta Police

Valdosta, GA -

The Valdosta Police Deparment has named a new Investigative Bureau Commander. Lieutenant Leslie Manahan will take over the position formerly held by Chief Brian Childress. She's the first woman to ever hold the position at the Valdosta Police Department. Manahan will be responbisle for overseeing the investigation of all major crimes in the city. She's been with the department since 1997 when she joined as a patrol officer.

Manahan said "it is a great honor. It's only the beginning for women in this department. You know, some day we could have a female chief, you never know."

Manahan has been second in command in the bureau of investigative services for the last six years.
