Tallahassee, FL - The accountability report by the State University System of Florida says the number of degrees awarded by Florida's universities increased by 14 percent in the past three years.

Educators say more students earning degrees lead to more skilled workers contributing to the state's knowledge-based economy.

Dominic Calabro with Florida Taxwatch says, "Even more than that, it's going to help us have more informed people. Even as the economy changes they're going to have to adapt and this is the best way to do so without knowledge-based economy."

The Atlantic Monthly Group says the unemployment rate for Bachelor degree holders is 3.7 percent.

While going to college doesn't guarantee a job, FSU student Harold Delrosario says he believes it does make a difference.

He says, "The degree of the helping, like how much it helps today is a little less than it was before. But, I think it6 definitely helps. Just the fact that you went to college and you have credentials to say you've been educated. I think it helps."
