WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A South Florida man is facing federal charges after allegedly poaching more than 300 sea turtle eggs from a beach.

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service reports that 51-year-old Kenneth Cornelius Coleman is charged with illegally taking and attempting to sell the turtle eggs.

Authorities say Coleman took 316 sea turtle eggs from nests in Juno Beach over two days last July. The poaching was discovered by employees at a sea turtle rescue center, who were able to rebury more than 200 of the eggs found in canvas bags on the beach.

The Palm Beach Post (http://bit.ly/1i2dLsS) reports that witnesses identified the poacher as Coleman, who has a history of similar illegal poaching. He is currently imprisoned for a probation violation from a past conviction and does not yet have a lawyer in the latest case.
