Tallahassee, FL - A law passed earlier this year requires lawmakers in Florida to attend an ethics meeting.

The law was passed as a way to clean up state government and restore trust to Floiridians. It was the first time in 36-years there was an ethics reform in the state.

"Officials will learn about conflicts of interest, financial disclosure requirements, gifts they can take and how to report those gifts, for lobbyist they interact with. These are important topics," said Dan Krassner with Integrity Florida.

Krassner also says it was a good first step, but adds there is a long way to go.

The meeting was presented by the Senate General Counsel.
