Tallahassee, FL (AP) - The Florida House has voted to rename unemployment compensation as "reemployment assistance."

The chamber Friday unanimously passed a bill (HB 7027) that includes the name change. It next goes to the Senate where a similar bill (SB 1416) has been moving through committee.

Gov. Rick Scott's new Department of Economic Opportunity sought the change to "rebrand" and refocus Florida's unemployment compensation system.

Scott wants to add incentives for jobless workers to seek reemployment in order to continue receiving compensation.

To that end, the bill also would require claimants who receive low scores on a skills review to undergo workforce skills training at no expense to them.

Why do you think QUALIFIED Former Supervisors , Managers , Accounting folks and the like are told when they apply ....oh yur not qualified to be a secretary , Companies do not want experience , they seek bottom dollar , no benefit labor , fresh out of school , and the hiring process itself is as much to blame as anything else 2 2= 134 applications 79 interviews that go well , and NO Callbacks !!

Unemployment , Re Employment , Half baked employment ..makes NO difference what they call it . Fact is , until they change what is fundamentally holding the whell from moving forward Nobody Useful will be back at work. It isnt Politicians or the Chinese. IT IS EMPLOYERS themselves. Too Many Qualified applicants are passed over for age, race , gender , or having too much experience , it is literally perpetuating the crisis. The groups benefiting ? Employers and Employment agencies are getting Tax Credit for "trying" to put people back to work....that means as long as they "Try" the money keeps coming , but if they fill the slots quick ...money gone , another payroll expense !!!
