Tallahassee, FL -- The League of Women Voters of Florida reminds voters that Saturday, Jan. 28, is the last day to cast a ballot at early voting sites for the Tuesday, Jan. 31 Presidential Preference Primary.

Under Florida's new voting laws, early voting sites will not be open on the Sunday or Monday before the election. (Note: Five Florida counties will be following a different early voting schedule, including Hillsborough, Collier, Hardee, Hendry and Monroe counties).

To help voters verify their specific county's voting schedule, the League is providing the attached link from the Division of Elections to the statewide roster of early voting sites and hours of operation.

Any voter can receive more information about voting in Florida at the League's nonpartisan voter service website: www.bereadytovote.org or vamosavotar.org in Spanish. Election details, including precinct locations and individual voter status verification, are available on the website.

In addition, the League offers these voting tips to Floridians as we approach Election Day:

Is there anything special I need to know when I mail in my vote-by-mail ballot?

Yes, postage will vary from county to county. You may need to apply extra postage, depending upon the size (number of races) and weight of the ballot. Each county is different. IMPORTANT: Don't forget to sign the back of your ballot envelope before mailing it in.

Can I turn my vote-by-mail ballot in at the polls on Election Day?

On Election Day, precinct pollworkers cannot be responsible for your ballot and will not accept it at the polls. It is your responsibility to make sure that your ballot arrives at the Supervisor of Elections office by the Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. deadline. NOTE: Postmarks do not count. You do have the option of turning in your vote-by-mail ballot at an early voting site and exchanging it for a regular ballot so that you can vote that day. You also have this option on Election Day at your precinct.
