A local pantry is in dire need of food to serve senior citizens.
The Elder Care Services Food Pantry on Tennessee St. in Tallahassee provides two weeks of food to anyone 60 or older who needs it.
There is no income requirement.
Each person can utilize the pantry every four week.
Workers there say they've been seeing an increase of people needing their services because of changes to health care.
"A lot of seniors are seeing increased cost of health care. So a lot of times what they would typically spend on their food needs is now having to be re-appropriated in other areas of their lives and daily expenses," Amber Tynan, Elder Care Services Director of Development and Communications said.
Organizers tell us the pantry receives about 50 calls a day from people needing help.
Elder Care is in need of mostly canned meats, pasta and cereal.
