Tallahassee, FL- Throughout his life, Ed DePuy wore many hats. He was a Florida Highway Patrolman, a sheriff's deputy and a Leon County Commissioner. But the biggest hat he wore was that of a public servant.
"I want everyone to remember that in Ed DePuy you had a politician that cared about everybody," said Delaitre Hollinger, a friend of DePuy.
"He was a great guy. A good public servant. He was a good friend. He'll be missed," said Leon County Commissioner, Bryan Desloge, DePuy's friend and colleague.
The 66-year-old DePuy died Friday at his home.
DePuy's Facebook Page is now a make-shift memorial. Friends and family have posted their goodbyes. One post from a friend that reads: "Ed was a good guy. I will miss him. To his family - you are in my prayers. Many folks love "your" Ed. Thank you for sharing him. Farewell friend."
Delaitre Hollinger met DePuy when he was running his own campaign for Tallahassee City Commissioner.
"He just had a warm and caring personality about him and overall just a really, really great guy," said Hollinger
Leon County Commission Bryan Desloge says he and DePuy bonded as the only Republicans on the County Commission when they served.
"He spoke his mind. He was not scared to tell people what he thought. And I think in politics, often times, that's something that gets lost," said Desloge.
At this time, funeral arrangements have not been released nor has his cause of death.
