Tallahassee, FL - Many Residents are not ready for the cold front that is under way.
"Being a Floridian, I am not prepared for the cold weather, personally, so this morning when I left Jacksonville to come to Tallahassee I couldn't even find a jacket," said Brooks Biagini, a Floridian not ready for the cold.
"When it feels cold," said Julia Brill, another Floridian not ready for the cold. "I like it better when it feels hot."
However, the Brill family is well aware of what to do with these below freezing temperatures.
"We were always prepared for that," said Jarin Brill, from Brill's Plumbing Co. "If it stays more than 5 to 6 hours that would be enough time for it to freeze and break any pipes.
According to Brill, freeze damage can run in the thousands of dollars. The number one thing to remember is to leave your faucet dripping, so your pipes don't freeze.
"Any of your exposed facets dripping because water won't freeze in this part of the country," said Brill.
Also, don't forget to protect your pets. Make sure they have enough food to eat, during the cold weather. And heat your home safely.
Brill has one more piece of advice, If the cold stays for days.
"Turn the breaker off on your water heater and let the cold and hot water drip just a little bit to keep it moving and that should suffice this inclement weather we are going to experience," said Brill.
