Associated Press Release
ATLANTA (AP) -- State officials are set to honor Georgia's more than 230 top-rated child care programs.
Gov. Nathan Deal, First Lady Sandra Deal and Department of Early Care and Learning Commissioner Bobby Cagle are scheduled to honor the programs Tuesday at the state Capitol Tuesday afternoon.
Officials say the ratings system, which uses one, two, or three stars to rate child care programs, is similar to ratings in other industries -- like restaurants and hotels.
Officials say part of the recognition ceremony is aimed at encouraging others to participate in the voluntary programs.
