Gadsden County Celebrates 100th Anniversary Of Courthouse

Gadsden County, FL -- The Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners invites you to join in a 2-part celebration of the Centennial Anniversary of the building of the Gadsden County Courthouse.

The kick-off celebration will begin Saturday, November 23rd at 12:30 p.m. at the Gadsden Arts Center located at 13 North Madison Street in Quincy. Local resident and history buff Joe Munroe will be conducting a presentation on the history of the Gadsden County Courthouse. The title of his presentation is Job No. 99: The Centennial Celebration of Hentz and Reid's Gadsden County Court House; An Architectural Journey from 1824 to 1913. This event is free and open to the public.

The main centennial celebration will take place Friday, December 6th at 3:00 p.m. on the Courthouse Square. Hear from community leaders including Gadsden County Circuit Judges and local dignitaries, and be a part of history as we seal a time capsule in honor of the 500th Anniversary of the discovery of Florida. We will also be recognizing the families of the original builders of the courthouse.
