The Healthy Start Coalition is helping families that may not be able to afford items needed so that their baby can have a healthy start in life.
Tonight, you can help, too... by going to a baby shower!
The Healthy Start Coalition's new signature Baby Shower just kicked off at the Old Willis Dairy on Centerville Road.
The barn and the entire farm has been transformed for tonight's fundraiser to help area families.
This the the Healthy Start's first year holding the baby shower.
It's a fundraiser that gives community members a chance to help moms and babies in Leon and Wakulla counties.
There are baby stations set up where you can donate to provide services or purchase needed items.
"Items like a safe place to sleep; a breast pump so that the mom can continue to breast feed once she goes back to work; as well as things like a car seat, which are required before the baby is discharged from the hospital," said Kristy Goldwire, Healthy Start Coalition Executive Director.
Proceeds will also help provide services such as free child birth education and free parenting courses.
The baby shower is from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Old Willis Dairy located at 1609 Centerville Road in Tallahassee.
There will be live entertainment, food, drinks, and a silent auction.
Tickets are $25 at the door. Again, it goes toward helping babies get a healthy start in life.
