Retailers are expected to hire up more seasonal workers this holiday season.

Reports say last month's unemployment rate was the lowest in Florida since 2008. With a positive outlook for seasonal job openings this year, job seekers say they feel optimistic.

Florida's unemployment rate went down by 8.5 percent for October.

Reports show the rate in a few counties in our Florida region have also seen a slight decrease.

The National Retail Federation says retailers are expected to hire between 585,000 and 625,000 seasonal workers this holiday season.

Stores in Tallahassee have "hiring" signs posted.

Tallahassee resident Morgan Wilkerson is in the process of looking for a second job, and says the seasonal job openings are encouraging.

She says, "Temporary is fine. But, I'd be blessed if God can bless me with it throughout the years with it. But, temporary is fine. Seasonal jobs are always just a foot in the door and if you can step that other foot in there, then it'll be perfect."

Reports show Leon County's unemployment rate went down .7 percent from the month of September, Gadsden County saw a .5 percent decrease, and Wakulla County's unemployment rate also had a .7 decrease.

Experts say this is the perfect time to take advantage of the job openings this holiday season.

They say those looking for work should take this time to get their resume together and possibly seek training.
