Tallahassee, FL (AP) - Gov. Rick Scott and his successors would get more authority over the state's 24 regional workforce boards under a bill that's passed in the Florida House.
Representatives voted 95-19 for the measure (HB 7023) that now goes to the Senate.
The legislation was filed after questionable spending practices by the federally funded boards, which promote employment opportunities.
It would let the governor remove board members and executive directors.
Rep. Evan Jenne, a Dania Beach Democrat, spoke out against the bill. He said it would give governors too much authority over local issues
He called it "bipolar policymaking" because Tallahassee would be imposing its will on the local level while at the same time complaining about federal mandates to the states.

What is wrong with you people, The article is about how florida's Governor is getting arthourity he really doesn't need and some of you still find a way to say negative things about our President. I'm tried of hearing "We want our country back", when what you really want to say is hurry and get that black man out of office. Florida has been run be A republician Governor, republican senate and house for the pass 8 to 12 years maybe it's time to try something different. Stop getting sidetracked it"s about the good of the people.
Rep. Rick Kriseman from St. Pete has been trying to push a recall bill. He is one of the good guys that actually gives a darn about the people of the state and not just the ones that run it, and their corporate friends. Please consider donating to his campaign fund so he can be successful in getting the recall bill out there.
Actually what is destroying us is ALEC (look it up) and the Legislators that are in bed with them. They don't care about anyone but themselves.
