UPDATE:
Leon County, Florida -July 21
One person is dead after a crash Saturday morning along I-10 in Leon County.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Ester Eparsa died after being ejected from Olivia Gutierrez's Dodge Durango.
FHP says Gutierrez was driving west on I-10 in the outside lane while carrying cargo on top of the trailer attached to the back of her SUV. The front of the SUV began to sway left to right causing Gutierrez to travel into the westbound emergency lane.
FHP says Gutierrez steered left, traveling back across the outside westbound lane of I-10 and then partially into the inside westbound lane of I-10. FHP says she over-steered to the right and the Durango began to rotate clockwise before flipping over.
The Durango flipped back upright position and the left rear of the car collided with a metal guardrail on the north shoulder.
The car continued its clockwise rotation and traveled across the metal guardrail, coming to final rest, facing north. Both
Gutierrez and Eparsa were ejected.
According to FHP, the body of Ester Eparsa, the passenger in the Durango, was brought to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital's morgue.
Gutierrez, the driver, was brought to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. FHP says she has minor injuries.
FHP says it does not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash at this time.
There are no reported witnesses to this crash.
