TALLAHASSEE, FL – Leadership Tallahassee, the region’s premier leadership organization since 1983, is proud to announce that Kim Williams, a Tallahassee native and community leader, will be recognized with the Lifetime Leadership Award during the 20th Annual Distinguished Leadership Awards Thursday, September 18, at 6pm at the University Center Club. This award ceremony recognizes individuals who have made contributions to the Tallahassee community through substantive achievements in the career and community arenas. Leadership Tallahassee is a division of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce.
“The Distinguished Leadership Awards shine the spotlight on those members of our community who have made a positive impact in our region throughout their career, and we are proud to recognize a great community leader in Kim Williams,” said Barbara Boone, Executive Director of Leadership Tallahassee. “Kim is active in so many different areas and programs, has committed himself to bettering our region and serves as an inspiration to so many.”
Kim Williams began his career at Marpan, his family's business, as a part time employee while attending Tallahassee Community College in 1968. He has served as President of the company since 1985. As an owner/developer of commercial real estate, he is managing partner of the Heritage at Commonwealth, Hamilton Industrial Park and Commerce Industrial Center.
Kim has a long history of community involvement: He is currently a Board member of Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, Capital City Bank and the Florida State University Research Foundation. He has also been a founding board member and past President of Southside Business Association and past Chair of both the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Council of Tallahassee/Leon County. In 2006, Kim was the recipient of the Godfrey Smith Past-Chair award presented by the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce. He served 8 years on the Board of the Tallahassee Housing Authority and one year on the Board of Goodwill.
As a native Tallahassean, Kim is committed to encouraging economic growth so that our children and our graduates will be able to find opportunity here, while maintaining our quality of life.
The awards ceremony serves as Leadership Tallahassee’s major community fundraiser, with deserving leaders being honored in each of the following four categories:
