Tallahassee, FL - December 16, 2012
At around 2:45 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department received a call for service behind the 5000 Block of Brill Point on the Lake Jackson lake bed.
The caller advised that heavy smoke was in the area of her residence. On scene, firefighters found 20 acres of brush on the Lake Jackson lake bed burning.
Fire crews from Station 15 began to contain portions of the fire with a brush truck and also received assistance from the Bradfordville
Volunteer Fire Department.
Due to the size and location of the fire, the Florida Forest Service was called out to plow fire lines around the fire to mitigate the incident.
No injuries or property damage were reported at the scene of the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Florida Department of Agriculture Law Enforcement.
