Thomasville, GA-October 12, 2012

A local human society is encouraging people in the community to run for a good cause.

It's the 21st Annual Run For Rover 5K and One Mile Fun Run.

Runners are encouraged to come on out Saturday morning and run or walk the course and bring your furry friends along too.

Proceeds will benefit the thousands of animals a year that the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society takes in.

"You obviously have to have a facility and food and medical care and you know, vaccinations and all these sorts of things for the animals; so all this fundraising that we do, the proceeds benefit that," said Edward Williams, the Executive Director of the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society,

It's not too late to register.

Race day registration starts at 8 a.m. October 13 and costs $20.

Run For Rover will kick off at 9 a.m. at Thomas University, located on Pinetree Boulevard and Milpond Road.
