Tallahassee, FL-Tallahassee native Debbie Foote has been riding horses since she was nine. Now Foote is looking to separate herself from dozens of other equestrians as she competes in front of her hometown crowd at this year's Red Hills Horse Trials.

"It's nerve-racking. It's much more nerve-racking than other shows when nobody knows you," said Foote.

Foote says she's been training since January for Red Hills. She hopes the months of training pay off as her horse, ' Fly Me Courageous' makes his Red Hills debut.

"There a lot of people here, a lot of spectators and things going on so I am kind of curious how he'll react," said Foote.

Foote's first chance for that comes in the Dressage competition. That's where horse and rider must complete a series of predetermined moves from memory.

The less the rider needs to aid their horse, the better. It's the first event of the competition. And one where the riders' performance can set the tone for the rest of the weekend.

"My goal is to end on my dressage score. That would be awesome. If I could have no penalties added to my dressage score I'd love it," she said.

Foote says after Red Hills she will be heading to North Carolina for another competition in two weeks.
