NORTH PORT, Fla. (AP) -- A Bradenton man is facing charges in the death of an 11-month old boy.
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports that 35-year-old Carter Bryant was arrested Saturday after Jai'shin Vinson died from injuries police say were consistent with his being shaken.
North Port police say Jai'shin's mother told officers she left him in Bryant's care Saturday night, and that her son had been crying but had calmed before she left.
Police say when she returned, Bryant said Jai'shin was in a "deep sleep."
The mother found Jai'shin in a car seat in the master bedroom, and told police he was slumped over and pale.
Bryant is being held without bail on a manslaughter charge.
