Valdosta, GA -
Hundreds of locals came out for the March of Babies event in Valdosta at Mathis Auditorium. The event is connected to the March of Dimes foundation which is celebrating it's seventy fifth anniversary. The event has been happening in Valdosta for nearly a decade. March of Dimes was founded by President Franklin Roosevelt to fight polio, but it has since taken on a different mission.
Chuck Roberts is a March of Dimes Co-Chair. He said
"since 1970 it's been geared towards premature births and enfant deaths and finding a cure, finding reasons for and educating expectant mothers so that they're better prepared to have a healthy pregnancy and have healthy babies."
More than $50 thousand dollars was raised at today's event.
