Wakulla County Sheriff's Office Release
The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) members and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division arrested a 37-year-old St. Marks man Feb. 26 following the execution of a search warrant at his home, according to Sheriff Charlie Creel.
Law enforcement discovered an active methamphetamine lab in the bathroom of a home at 37 Mock Street and took Eric Nelson Taylor into custody. Taylor was charged with manufacture of methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine of more than 14 grams, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of narcotics equipment.
The WCSO received intelligence in December 2012 that a clandestine meth lab was operating in St. Marks. During the execution of the search warrant, Taylor was observed at the residence and cooperated with law enforcement officers.
A 20-ounce sports drink bottle was observed with a chemical reaction going on at the time of the investigation. During the dismantling of the active cooking, 54.8 grams of liquid was extracted from the bottle. The liquid field tested positive for methamphetamine. The “meth oil” was secured and submitted into evidence.
Detectives also seized property from inside the residence that is used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Other plastic bottles with meth residue were also seized during the investigation.
During the meth investigation, detectives also discovered less than 20 grams of marijuana and a grinder which were seized as well.
Taylor was transported to the Wakulla County Jail without incident.
