Midway, FL - Jerome Turner, Jr., was all smiles Friday morning as he was pinned Chief of Police for the City of Midway. Colleagues, family and friends joined in to congratulate the newly instated Chief. Chief Turner plans to, "embark upon this new journey and of course move the City of Midway and the Midway Police Department forward."

You may remember in January the then Police Chief, Terron Lindsey, was arrested for misconduct and petty theft. Turner has served as Interim Chief of Police since March and has since put in place a system where officers are on call, 24-hours a day.

Residents in the area said Midway is on the right path. "It is going to be a very positive direction. Chief Turner I do believe will do a very fine job in shaping and molding the future of this police department," said Bishop Sylvester Robinson of Gadsden County.

Now Midway is forgetting about its recent past and is looking ahead to the future. Chief Turner said the police budget is back on track and will continue to implement his motto of: Efficiency, Effectiveness Equals Excellence, "in pretty much all of our daily operations to ensure that all police departments services are efficient and effective in all we do," said Police Chief Turner.

At 29, Police Chief Turner is the youngest police chief in the state of Florida and said he is thankful for the mentoring from fellow police chiefs throughout the state.
