Thomasville, GA- Members of the military and their families are invited to visit select museums for free this summer!

This is the third year that the Jack Hadley Black History Museum in Thomasville will be participating in the patriotic celebration.

It's all part of the Blue Star Program which runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2013.

During that time period, military members and their families are invited to visit the museum for free.

The program is a collaboration by the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense.

Jack Hadley, the president and curator of the Jack Hadley Black History Museum said, being selected as a 'Blue Star Museum' is a great opportunity to give back to the people who serve our country and educate children in the community.

"I'm hoping that the families can come to the museum and see other unsung heroes; Blacks who have made great contributions, because it didn't just happen over night," Hadley said.

The Jack Hadley Black History Museum is just one of more than 1800 museums across America to be named a "Blue Star Museum."
