Gadsden County, FL - Gadsden County deputies are investigating an early morning shooting that sent one person to the hospital with severe injuries to his face.

The man was shot early this morning at a home on Miller Road in Gadsden County, that's near the Florida-Georgia state line.

A family member says the man is Joey Bess.
They also say that part of his face was blown off as a result of the gunshot. Bess was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and is still alive.

At this point we don't know if the wound was self-inflicted or if someone else shot him. However, family members do believe that he was the victim of a crime.

We have not heard back from the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office with any information about the incident.
