NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Two of Nashville's top Democrats are planning a fundraiser for Michelle Nunn's U.S. Senate bid in Georgia.
Mayor Karl Dean and his wife, Anne Davis, have scheduled a fundraiser at their Green Hills home on Monday. The Tennessean reported that U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper, D-Tennessee, will be an honorary host.
Nunn is the Democratic nominee in Georgia who will take on the winner of the July 22 GOP primary runoff between U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston and businessman David Perdue, the one-time CEO of Goodlettsville-based Dollar General from 2003 to 2007.
Nunn is a nonprofit executive whose father, Sam Nunn, was a highly respected senator from Georgia from 1972 to 1996.
