Tallahassee, FL - This week marks Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child in the Big Bend. Area churches, groups and families are joining millions of people across the United States to fill empty shoe boxes with gifts for 9.8 million suffering children around the world. "All of the children are impoverished. This is the only gift they'll probably ever get in their life, so each box is prayed over. Our prayer is that God knows exactly who gets that box and that they need whats in that box," said Jim Parido, Collection Coordinator of the Big Bend for Operation Christmas Child.
Operation Christmas Child has a goal of collecting 12,000 this year. The Collection runs from today through November 25Th. The drop off locations include: Tallahassee Heights United Methodist Church, Bible Believers Fellowship, Crawfordville United Methodist Church, Faith Apostolic Christian Tabernacle Services and Fellowship Baptist Church. You can visit their Facebook page at OCC Tallahassee/Big Bend for more information on drop-off hours or call 1-800-547-8580.
