City officials are pursuing grants and loans for a 5.5-million dollar waste-water treatment plant that will increase its daily capacity by 250-thousand gallons.

Perry's City manager says they hope to split the cost 50/50 - 50 percent grant money, and 50 percent low interest loan.

Either way, City Officials are confident that the new project will not cause rates to go up for people living in the area.

"We're currently paying off the last sewer expansion and before this one is put online that bond will be paid off so its basically paying what we're paying now so that's how it won't effect our sewer rates," said Mayor Emily Ketring.

The new plant will be complete sometime in 2014 and should last for about 20 years.
