Valdosta, GA - The Rotary Club of Valdosta hosted it's 7th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner at the Rainwater Conference Center Thursday night. The Valdosta Police Department and Lowndes County Sheriff's Office honored their own with special presentations of "Officer of the Year" for both departments.

"We just saw a need to say thanks to these officers and show some kind of appreciation for what they mean to the community. And I know that's seldom ever done", says James Dominey, with the Rotary Club.

Domminey says they put the money from events like this one into a fund for local law enforcement. If they have outstanding medical bills, a fire, or anything urgent, they can request money from the rotary at any time.
