Tallahassee FL- Santa Claus is coming to town. In fact, he already came to one town today during Thomasville's annual Christmas parade, Santa Claus made his grand entrance reminding everyone that the holiday is right around the corner.
Every year Thomasville's YMCA and Parks and Rec organizations come together to kick off Christmas with their downtown parade.
YMCA Parade Coordinator Katie Ketchum explained, "Alot of people just know that this is part of the Thomasville culture. It's part of our community."
94 different marching groups, made up of hundreds of Thomas County residents marched in Monday's parade. From Dancers to motorcycle riders, everyone put on their Christmas costumes and got excited about the holiday.
Thomasville Resident and Parent Ken Forrester said, "Its a good opportunity to get them in that mood. Get them ready for Christmas and the whole Santa Clause thing and just kind of have them start looking forward to it."
The purpose of the parade isn't to raise money-- it's simply to remind everyone what and who's on its way. As Forrester explained, "So with my girls we start them out early Santa Claus is right around the corner you need to start acting nice these next few weeks."
This isn't the only Christmas celebration Thomasville hosts every year. Their Victorian Christmas will be December 12th and 13th.
