Tallahassee, FL - Hundreds came out in full force today to show support for and defend parental choice in education.
More than 1,300 parents, students and teachers from throughout Florida filled Waller Park near the Dolphin Statute at the state Capitol today.
The rally was for the fourth annual School Choice Day.
Governor Rick Scott, the state education commissioner and a number of lawmakers spoke on behalf of legislation that promotes increased access and equitable funding for high quality options in education.
Education Commissioner Tony Bennett says, "The fact that any parent regardless of their race, regardless of how much money they have, have the right to put their child in a school that meets their child's needs, the same way that more affluent parents have. I think it truly does make this the social justice issue of the 21st century in education."
Vice President Joe Biden's younger brother, Frank Biden, was also at today's rally.
