News Release: Florida State University
July 24, 2014
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — As the beginning of the fall 2014 semester approaches on Aug. 25, Florida State University’s Transportation & Parking Services has teamed up with the City of Tallahassee and StarMetro to launch Seminole Express FAST — a revised slate of campus bus routes for “Frequent Accessible Simple Transit.”
“The Seminole Express FAST routes will provide students with an expanded and more efficient campus bus system, with some old routes being phased out or folded into new and expanded routes,” said David L. Perry, assistant vice president for safety and chief of police at Florida State.
The revised system of campus bus routes features:
- One on-campus route, the “Renegade,” which will serve the main campus loop. This route will feature more buses, five-minute wait times at each stop and two transfer stations at University Center Building A and Building C.
- Four off-campus routes. The revised “Garnet” combines the former “Garnet,” “Heritage Grove” and “Torch” routes into one and includes shorter wait times. The new “Gold” gives students access to areas east of campus, specifically Cascades Park and the Governor’s Square Mall area. The “Tomahawk” will continue to cover areas west of campus along Pensacola and Tennessee streets and White Drive.
The “Innovation” continues to provide access to Innovation Park. All off-campus routes will share a common transfer station at University Center Building C.
As in previous years, Florida State students can ride all StarMetro routes for free with their valid FSUCards.
