Thomas Co., Ga. -- A domestic dispute turned deadly after a man fired two shots inside a dialysis center in Thomasville, Ga.

According to police, the incident occurred around 7 a.m., Wednesday morning. Police say 41-year-old Loretha Threadcraft was opening her daycare center, Tender Loving Care, when her ex-husband, Leonard Threadcraft, entered the establishment, threatening her with a gun.

Police say that's when Loretha, desperate for help, ran across the street to the Southwest Georgia Dialysis Facility and barricaded herself into a restroom. Leonard followed her into the building and fired two shots into the restroom door.

Loretha was not hit by either bullet and sustained no injury in the incident. Leonard fatally shot himself outside of the dialysis center.

Police have not yet said what type of firearm was used or where on the body the 40-year-old shot himself. They say no-one else inside the facility or daycare center were injured.

As news of the incident broke out, friends and family of the former couple gathered at the daycare center, trying to make sense of it all. They say the two recently finalized a divorce, but that they never saw this coming.

Dante Johnson, a friend of both Leonard and Loretha, remembers Leonard as "a spiritual leader."

Police are looking to see if there were previous reports of violence between the two that could have led to this tragic outcome, and continue to investigate.
