Thomasville, GA- Small businesses in our area are encouraging people to shop locally this weekend.

Downtown Thomasville is booming with locally owned shops and stores. Some are offering incentives to draw the shoppers in on Friday.

Ally B Boutique will be running buy one get one deals and offering 30% off certain clothing items.

Other stores are using social media to attract shoppers.

"So for instance, we might put on Facebook, come in and say 'I shop local' and we will give you a 20% discount just for coming in and saying 'I shop local,'" said Katie Chastain, owner of The Bookshelf.

Alex Martin, Owner of Ally B Boutique added, "I think it's important to shop small because of the customer service, you know, giving each costumer one-on-one attention that you will not get at a department store."

Don't forget, Saturday has also been named Shop Small Saturday so some stores will be keeping the deals coming all weekend long.
