Tallahassee, Fl --May 24, 2012--

Local business leaders were honored tonight 5-24-12 during the 29th Annual Small Business Week.

The awards ceremony is done to recognize various business leaders in the Big Bend Community and their contributions to it. About half a dozen business leader were presented with "The Parks and Crump Community Champion award" for their work. The award was named after Daryl Parks and Benjamin Crump.

"These are people that have followed their dreams, decided to make a goal of starting a business. They've sacrificed a lot so I think the least we can do is to come together and recognized them," says Keith Bowers of the Small Business Development Center.

Bowers says the business chosen were nominated by various people with in the community. In all about a dozen business leader were nominated.
