Advocates say every day, an average of 7.6 Floridians will take their own lives.
The Florida Suicide Prevention Coalition recognized the 11th Annual Suicide Prevention Day at the Capitol today.
Organizers say in Florida, suicide is the ninth ranking cause of death among all age groups.
They are spreading awareness to help those who may be battling depression and/or substance abuse.
Betsy Westuba with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay says, "I want people to realize the pain that people go through when they lose someone to suicide. It doesn't affect just the person that's died. It affects all of us; at least six people for each person that dies."
The group suggests that anyone with suicidal thoughts to call the 2-1-1 Big Bend hotline.
