Tallahassee, Florida - June 13, 2012 -

Officer David Northway with the Tallahassee Police Department says a suspected car thief took officers on a chase through Tallahassee this afternoon. TPD received a call around noon from a man who says he reported his car stolen last week, and believed he saw another man driving it down Lake Bradford Road on Wednesday.

When police approached the suspect, the suspect drove towards the officers. Officers say the suspect took off toward Pensacola Street. Police pursued the suspect only after the suspect attempted to run over the officers. During the chase, the suspect hit the car of another driver nearby. No one was injured.

TPD will only say the suspect is a man, but that they'll release more information later today. He is charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle which is a felony.
