At around 9:00 a.m. this morning, units from the Tallahassee Fire Department Stations 1 and 2 responded to a single story house fire in the 800 Block of Delaware Street. On scene, firefighters were met with heavy smoke coming from the side window of the house.
Firefighters forced the front door and quickly found the fire in a front bedroom. Crews from Engine 1 extinguished the fire in five minutes while other crews performed a search of the home to ensure all occupants were out safely. The fire was called in by a neighbor who noticed smoke coming from the home. The occupant of the house was not home at the time of the fire. A dog did succumb to the fire and no other injuries were reported at the scene. The resident was displaced due to the fire and the Red Cross was called out to assist.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental and is still under investigation by the Tallahassee Fire Department. Damages from the fire were estimated at $15,000.

Units from the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a morning house fire on the 800 block of Delaware Street in Tallahassee, according to Lt. Mike Bellamy with TFD. The fire is out at this time. Firefighters on the scene say that the fire was contained to one room and appears to have started in a bedroom closet. No one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported. Crews from Station 1 and 2 responded.
