While Wednesday marked the city of Tallahassee's first murder of 2013, the city has averaged about one murder a month over the last two years.
Tallahassee police say in 2011 and 2012, the city saw 13 homicides each year.
Police said most of those were gang or drug related, but some were also cases of domestic violence and self-defense.
Despite the crime rate level, some residents say they want to see more done.
"Obviously, we are very concerned and worried about the city and about the people's safety," said Jack McCarthy, local resident.
Police said they have solved each case for all 26 homicides.
