Police: No Signs of Foul Play in Parking Lot Death

Foul play is not suspected after a Tallahassee man was found dead in a car in the parking lot outside Fresh Market.

Tallahassee Police have identified the victim as 27 year old John
A. C. Martinez.

According to his Facebook page, Martinez worked at Calvin Klein, the Hotel Duval and had his own painting service.

He was a 2006 graduate of Chiles High School.

Following an autopsy, investigators say there's no indication Martinez's death is the result of a violent act.

The medical examiner is waiting for toxicology results.

So far, a cause of death has not been publicly released.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Tallahassee police say that there are no signs of "overt foul play" in the death of a 27-year-old man discovered in a car in the Fresh Market parking lot Tuesday evening.

The autopsy regarding the death of John A. Casey Martinez has been completed and the medical examiner is awaiting toxicology results.

Investigators want to assure residents that there is no indication that this was an act of violence.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Tallahassee Police Department is continuing its investigation into the suspicious death which TPD officers were called to last night around 8:45 p.m.

TPD was called to 1400 Village Square Boulevard after an employee called 911. The employee said they were walking in the parking lot earlier in the day when they noticed a male “slumped over” as if he was sleeping in his car.

The employee walked past the car again several hours later and noticed the man was still in the same position. The employee immediately called 911 and TPD patrol officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene but the male was deceased.

Investigators from TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit and Forensic Unit responded to the scene and are conducting an investigation into the incident, including reviewing all evidence and interviewing all witnesses.

The victim has been identified as John A. Casey Martinez, 27. The cause of death is pending as an autopsy is scheduled for today.

TPD says a male subject was found dead in a car in the parking lot of Fresh Market

Employee of a nearby business noticed a man apparently passed out in a car.

Several hours later the employees noticed the same man still there and called the police.

TPD is investigating this as a suspicious death as it was unattended.

We will have more information as it becomes available.
