Tallahassee, FL - A Tallahassee woman received a call from a person claiming to be with Publisher's Clearing House. The person told June Wilkerson that she had won and she needed to claim her prize. They then proceeded to tell her in order to do so she had to pay a tax on the prize money and that they needed the money right away. Wilkerson said she noticed warning signs as soon as they told her she needed to pay them money. Wilkerson said she called WCTV to help warn other patrons of the same scam.
"I recognized the red flags and all of these other things, but unfortunately some people are gullible enough and naive enough to believe it," said June Wilkerson.
Wilkerson said she contacted Publisher's Clearing House and the Tallahassee Police Department on what happened.
