Tallahassee, FL - Attention all young ladies going to prom this year, a local organization is preparing for their annual Operation Prom Dress event which gives local girls, who may not be able to afford a dress, a chance to shop for one for free. According to Lauren Engel of the Junior League of Tallahassee, “it's going to be so much fun. We're going to have a DJ and prizes, hair and make-up, you can come and get a dress, a pair of shoes, and get everything you need for a great prom experience."
Operation Prom Dress is an annual fundraiser hosted by the Junior League of Tallahassee which will be held at the GFWC Women’s Club on Saturday March 9, 2013 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM. It allows young women to shop in a boutique-like setting for their dream dress, shoes and accessories. Engel says "the Junior League of Tallahassee is focused on improving the lives of children and family in our communities particularly through school success and prom is a great component of self esteem. You want everyone to be able to go out and enjoy a great prom experience and not have to worry about if they can afford a dress or shoes and have everything they need to have a great time."
The event will also include style experts from Cole Couture who will give prom perfect fashion advice. Cole Couture owner, Carrie McNeill says "by us being there and being in the industry we can talk to them about being on trend and adding the right accessories and different things that make them feel great for that important night."
All of the dresses are gently used and some are even brand new with tags still attached. Engel states "we have bridesmaid’s dresses that have been worn once, dresses girls get on sale that they never wear at all, shoes, sparkles, all kinds of beautiful stuff comes in." So for any girls who are getting ready for prom season, mark your calendars. Engel states "it's going to be a great day, fun, come out and get to know some of the other girls in your community and just have a great time."
