Tallahassee, FL - The organization hosted their first of three community conversations in Leon County Tuesday night.
They're looking for feedback from people living in the area on where they think the community stands now, and where they'd like to see improvement.
"Some of the things that we keep hearing are hunger for kids, they're getting to school and they're not fed so how can you concentrate on what you need to do? After school activities, after school programs. Early literacy, we've heard early literacy in almost every arena that we've been in," said United Way of the Big Bend President Heather Mitchell.
There is another community conversation Wednesday, November 6th at Bethel A.M.E. Church at 6 p.m. in Tallahassee, then again on November 12th at Blessed Sacrament Church. There will also be community conversations in surrounding counties before a Community Goal Setting Summit in January of 2014.
