Several Leadership Lowndes members spent the morning framing a home at 612 Monroe Street. Also participating were volunteers from Moody AFB, VSU and Lowndes High School.

A total of 45 people were there putting up walls, setting tresses and nailing blue board to frame the house by the end of the day.

Volunteers say it takes 500 hours of community service to qualify for a Habitat House.

"This is something I otherwise may not have every had a chance to do," says Miranda Mabry, a Habitat Partner family member. "I mean hammering nails, I had to learn how to do that!"

This Monroe Street Habitat for Humanity house will be ready for its new family in 90 days.
