Valdosta Police Arrest Man in Shooting Incident
VPD arrest James Bryant, III for shooting incident that sent one person to hospital.

Valdosta, GA -- February 9, 2012 --

On February 8, 2012 at approximately 1731 hours, the Valdosta Police Department responded to the South Georgia Medical Center ER in reference to a gunshot victim. Officers arrived and spoke to Alfred Hill, Jr., who had been shot once in the right thigh. Hill told officers that he was at 509 E. Hill Avenue when he got into an altercation with an unknown African American male. A Detective from the Valdosta Police Department Person’s Crime Unit responded to investigate. During the investigation a suspect was identified. The Detective and other officers from the Valdosta Police Department responded to 509 E. Hill Avenue where they made contact with James Bryant, III. Bryant was brought to the Valdosta Police Department for questioning before being transported to the Lowndes County Jail. Bryant has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. A handgun recovered during the investigation is suspected to be the weapon used in the assault, but will have to be sent to the Valdosta-Lowndes Crime Lab for Ballistics Testing. The injuries to Hill do not appear to be life threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery.
