Tallahassee, Florida- August 16, 2012
There's no eating, drinking, photography or videotaping in the Florida Lottery building...until now.
Florida joined the national Powerball game in 2009. The winning numbers are drawn in the Florida Lottery Building.
Said Cynthia O'Connell,Florida Lottery Secretary:
"A jackpot game that grows as fast as Powerball really does catch the imgaination and excitement of Florida players and players nationwide," said Cynthia O'Connell, secretary of the Florida Lottery.
National CBS This Morning was also in the building to talk about the amazing jackpot numbers.
The Powerball jackpot up to this point was $337 million. An unnamed person from Lapeer, Michigan was the winner Wednesday night.
Ken Brown is down here visiting from Michigan. He knows all about the Powerball.
"I just hope it's a relative of mine that might feel generous and give me a little bit," Brown said.
"I'd probably have a heart attack at my young age, if I won, I would just flip out," said Isaiah Ible, a Tallahassee resident.
Accoring to Florida Lottery numbers, 246,000 Floridians won between $4 and $40,000 Wednesday.
The last jackpot Powerball win in Florida was last year. That person won $182 million.
"Here in Tallahassee, if I had that much money I would actually open a water park," Ible said.
"I'm used to living on not a whole a lot, so I probably could just live on a little portion of that," Brown added.
Even though someone in Michigan won the Powerball, four Floridians won $17 million through the Lotto Wednesday, which will be split between each of them.
