Students and teachers in Wakulla County filled the hallways today as schools started another academic year.

This year there are around 5-thousand students in the Wakulla County School district.

School board officials say they may have even seen an increase from last year.

Superintendent Robert Pearce says while school is important from elementary on it's especially important once a student hits high school.

Wakulla High School has some new additions this year to help prepare students for the next part of their lives.

Pearce said, "We're adding additional dull enrollment classes at Wakulla High School and working on more AP offerings this year for our students at Wakulla High School. So we continue to work there on college opportunities for our students.
